PIGEON FLYING.
The Christchurch Premier Pigeon Club conducted a race from Clinton during the week-end. The birds encountered a strong head wind, making the times slow and proving too much for several to get through against in race time. The winning bird, owned by Mr N. M’Neish. flew the 242 miles 456 yards airline in 7hr 49m!n 39sec. Velocities: Yds per min. i\. M’Neish’s Homeward ..... 907 A. Frandsen’s Leading Lady 903 H. Wood’s Young Chat 901 A. Crooke’s All Supreme .... 877 L. Gay’s Widden *62 W. Newell's Pannura *s* F. Iggo's Lucky Voyage .... 835 X. Dove’s True Shaft 814 A. W. Jones won the nominated bird prize.
