SENIOR TENNIS.
Competition to Commence on Saturday. The senior competition of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association will begin on Saturday next at Wilding Park. From the start of the season it has been doubtful whether there would be any senior competition this year. Many of the senior players were dissatisfied with the standard of previous contests, and at the annual meeting of the association this year suggestions were made that the grade should be abandoned or else reorganised. Entries were called but there were few made until this week, when the United Club decided to enter three teams. Now nine teams will take part and though they will not include all the first-class players of the province, the standard will be more even than in past years and a good competition should result. There will be one bye each week. The following is the draw for the first round which will begin at Wilding Park next Saturday:—Fendalton v. Canterbury College, United No. I. v. Cashmere, Linwood v. United No 111 Addington v. Cathedral, United No! 11. a b}-e.
