Miss E. Bate, Masterton. is spending a holiday in Christchurch Miss M. M’Farlane, who has been the guest of Mrs B. R. Bunny, Masterton, has returned to Christchurch.
Mrs Gordon Stevens, The Spur. Redcliffs, has returned from a visit to Waiau, North Canterbury.
Dr and Mrs C. T. Hand Newton Bealey Avenue, have returned home from a holiday spent at Lake Wanaka. Mr and Mrs W. Douglas Lane left Christchurch last evening for their newhome in Wellington., Mrs E. M. Edmonds, Gloucester Street West, has left for Wellington for the Confidence Carnival. Mrs Griffiths Lewer, Blenheim, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs Lindall, Christchurch, has returned home.
Mrs Mark Petre, Palmerston North, who has been visiting Mrs R. G. Petre, Derby Street, St Albans, has returned north.
Miss Elizabeth Alpers, Fendalton, left on Tuesday night for Wellington, where she is the guest of Mrs F. Reading, Tinakori Road. Miss Sophia Woodill, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Woodill, Akaroa, has been appointed a sister at the Hokitika Hospital. Mrs F. F. A. Ulrich,’Timaru, arrived in Christchurch last evening and is the guest of Mrs R. C. Fowler, Montreal Street.
Mrs Percy Knowles, Theodocia Street Timaru. who has been spending a holiday in Christchurch will return home to-day. Mrs L. W. Harley, Rangiora, who has been visiting her daughter. Airs Vesey Hamilton, Cashmere Hills, returned home to-day. Mrs Carey Hill, formerly of Christchurch, who has been Irving in England for some years, is expected to arrive in ... Christchurch about the middle of next month.
Miss Phyllis Narbey, daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Narbey, Akaroa, has completed her training at the Christchurch Hospital and has been appointed to the nursing staff. Miss Anne Starkv has returned to her home at Wfciteclifis after spending a fortnight's holiday in Christchurch, where she was the guest of Miss Betty Maling, Cashmere Hills. Miss E. Comyns Thomas, Hereford Street, will leave to-morrow to spend a holiday with MrsC. S. Cantrell, Havelock. She will later go on to Wellington, where she will spend some weeks. Nurse Maude gratefully acknowledges donations from “ A Grateful Patient ” and from ,St Martins; also knitted goods from R.L.B. and quilts from “ Patchwok,” Tai Tapu and Belfast branches of the Women’s Division oif the Farmers’ Union. Miss. Doris Pluck, Kaikoura, arrived in Christchurch yesterday and is staying with her sister Mrs Burgoyne, Cambridge Terrace. Miss Mavis Burgoyne, Greymouth, who will judge the dancing at Rakaia sports on Saturday is also the guest of Mrs Burgoyne.
