WOMEN’S DIVISION.

Provincial Executive Meets. BRANCH REPORTS. At a meeting: of the North Canterbury Provincial Executive of the Women's Division held yesterday in the Y.M.C.A. Mrs C. M’lntosh presided. The following branches were represented:—Christchurch, Darfield, Dunsandel. Fernside. Hororata. Motukarara, Springfield, Tai Tapu, West Eyreton. Woodend, Yaldhurst. Halswell, Styx, Oxford, Soirthbrook, Flaxton. Belfast. A deputation from the Boys’ Unemployment Committee was received. Mr M’Eldowney being the speaker. A deputation from the Nurse Maude Association was also received and Miss Tabart outlined the forthcoming appeal in February next. The following committee was appointed to deal with the matter of the Rest Home:—Mesdames C. M’lntosh. J. D. Hall, H. A. Nutt. G. Henderson and R. Jones. Mrs M'lntosh was appointed delegate to the executive meeting in Wanganui. Branches were advised that the branch with the most financial members for the year would have the honour of holding the W.D.F.U. banner for a year. Remits for the Dominion executive meeting were discussed. Meeting at Belfast, Mrs Maginness presided over a good attendance of members of the Belfast branch of the W.D.F.U. at the monthly meeting held in the library. One new member was enrolled. A wool quilt made by members of the division is to be sent to Nurse Maude. A comiirtltion for scones was won by Mrs Maginness, with Mrs Harris second. A demonstration of decorating a Christmas cake was given by Mrs Wilson. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Maginness. Morton. Pengelly and Meyer. Owing to the holidays there will be no meetnig till February. Meeting at Marshland. There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Marshland branch of the Women’s Division on Tuesday afternoon. Mrsi Marks presiding. The president and secretary were -authorised to open a savings bank account for the branch. Mrs A. B. Cottee (Christchui eh) gave a demonstration of barbola work, her various specimens being much admired. A competition for a plain sponge was won by Mrs G. Watson and a competition for the best pair of moccasins was won by Miss D. Goode. The roll call for next meeting, which is to be held on Friday. December 15. will be 44 A Christmas recipe," and a demonstration of icing a Christmas cake will be arranged. An invitation was received to attend a bring and“buy afternoon at the residence of Mrs R. Jones <Styx). under the auspices of the Styx-Hare-wood branch of the Women’s Division.
