Gathering Held in Town and Suburbs. DANCE AT PHILLIPSTOWN. A most successful dance in aid of the Sunday School funds was held on Tuesday evening in the Phillipstown Parish Hall. The winners of the novelty, dances were: Monte Carlo, Miss Violet Calvert and Mr J_ Lilly; lucky spot. Miss Aileen Agassiz and Mr R. Prosper; statue barn dance, Miss Lena Rogers and Mr R. Fuller; Wilsons Melody Makers supplied tfce music, and extras were played by Mr L. M’Kenzie (piano) and Mr R. English (xylophone). Gift Evening at Spreydon. A gift evening was held recently at the home of Mrs H. A. Pearson, Somerfield Street, Spreydon, in honour of Miss Gladys Mowbray, whose marriage will take place shortly, prior to her departure for England. The guest of honour received many useful gifts. The evening was spent in games, dancing, community singing and competitions. A dainty supper was served.

Bride-elect Honoured. T.he members of the Shirley Meth-i odist Choir recently met at the resid-1 ence of Mr and Mrs W. D. Marks, Banks Avenue. Shirley, to honour Missl Doris Cresswell, whose marriage takes} place next week. The evening was spent in competitions, games and music. On behalf of the choir. Mr Marks presented Miss Cressw’ell wdth a salver teapot.
