SCHOOL SOCCER.

Annual Tournament Concluded. The primary schools* Soccer tournament was concluded yesterday. In the junior grade Westland met Otago, present holders of the trophy, in the deciding game. Westland won a very keen game, 2-1. They take the shield, which Otago have held since 1920, for the first time. The final positions were:—Westland, two wins and a draw: Otago, a win and a draw; Canterbury A, two wins. Junior Grade. Canterbury A beat Canterbury B, 6-1. As in the bantam grade, the A team was much superior. Almond (4), Madden and Fahey scored for the A team and Munday for the B’s. Mr E. Davey refereed. Westland beat Otago, 2-1. Westland held a slight advantage In the first spell and led 1-0 at the interval. Mulqueen scored early in the game with a splendid lobbed shot. The second spell was very evenly contested. Mutimes levelled line scones with ten minutes to go, but in the final minute, Mulqueen again scored. Mr S. Dorie refereed. Winning Teams. The successful Canterbury A bantam team was:—Palmer. Neilson, Thomson, K. Smith, V. Smith, Deroo. Fleets, Howie, J. Smith, Tullet, Grant. The Westland junior team was:—Wilson, Harrington, Rae, M’Hugli, Vaughan, Newton, Inglis, Buckman, Hassan, Mulqueen, Mountford.
