LATE MRS JANET ROGERS.
Mrs Janet Rogers, widow of Mr i nomas Rogers, died suddenly on Tuesdav evening at the residence of her son-in-law. Mr Allan M’Donald, Balguerie Street, Akaroa. The deceased lady was born in 1861 at Campbelltown, Scotland, and came to New Zealand with her parents, the family landing at Part Chalmers in 1864. In 1881 she married Mr Thomas Rogers, who was engaged in farming at Edendale. Southland. Later they removed to Wainui, Banks Peninsula, and engaged in dairying. Mr Rogers died in 1926 and Mrs Rogers leaves two daughters, Mrs A. M’Donald (Akaroa) and Mrs E. Giddens (French Farm), and a son, Mr R. Rogers (New Plymouth). Three daughters predeceased her, Mrs Ramsay (Wainui), Mrs Henshaw (Culverden) and Nurse Margaret Rogers, who was drowned in the Sea when the hospital ship Marquette was torpedoed. Mrs Rogers had been ailing for some time, but her death was unexpected. She was esteemed by a large circle of friends.
