PARISH MEETINGS.

St Mary’s, Addington.

The annual meeting ol’ parishioners of St Mary’s Church, Addington, was held recently. The vicar, the Rev S. J. Cooper, presided. The report and balance-sheet showed the finances to be in a fairly sound position. The financial statements of the Women’s Council, Sunday school and Young Men’s Guild were adopted, showing all organisations financial. The vicar commented-on the good work being done by all the church organisations. During the year extensive alterations were carried out at the vicarage which is bow in a good state of repair. The following offeers wore elected: People’s church warden, Air J. Smith; vestrymen, Messrs Coote, Shrimpton, Jamieson, Line, Fowler, Giblelt, Burtt, Alatheson, E. Saunders and Barrel!; auditor, Mr Geo. Gyde. The vicar outlined and recommended the adoption of the duplex envelope system, and this was agreed to. The “ penny cards ” were distributed to those present, the object being to collect 100,000 pennies. Mr W. Pickering, who has rendered valuable service as people’s church warden, was presented with a tobacco pouch from his fellow vestrymen.
