POPULAR MINISTER.
Tributes to the valuable work carried out bv the Rev Alan C. Watson during the first year of his miri&try at St Paul’s were paid- last evening at a meeting of parishioners, Held in the schoolroom. Mr George Callender, chairman of the board of management, presided over a large attendance The Moderator of the General Assembly, the Right Rev D. D. Scott, delivered a brief address on the relationship between the people and the Church. Mr Callender and the session cleffk, Mr Burns, made eulogistid references to Mr Watson’s efficient carrying-out of the duties of his office. Mrs Rowntree, of the Ladies’ Association, and Mrs Malcolm, of the P.W.M.U., jointly wished Mr and Mrs Watson many happy returns on the anniversary of their inception. She presented Mrs Watson with a bouquet and Mr Watson with a ministerial gown. Mr Watson, in replying, thanked the members of the congregation for their kindness. Puring the evening the following programme was contributed: Piano solo, Miss Gibb; song, Mrs A. E. G. Lyttle; song, Master G. Filer; song. Mr Learmoth; piano solo, Master TI. Filer; quartette, Messrs E. and T. Rogers, R. Lake and J. Filer.
