PARADES OF COLOUR.
Strong Public Interest in Displays. New Zealand Shopping Week is in full swing to-day. Under clear skies and sunshine, and with beautifully decorated shops, the atmosphere of the city is much brighter and retailers in both city and suburbs are confident of the success of the campaign. Remarkable interest is already being taken in many of the displays, working exhibits at some of the city stores being particularly popular. All possible means are being taken to direct the attention of the public towards the aims of this special week, for the Combined Committee is anxious to impress upon the people the necessity of buying New Zealand-made goods with the object of providing employment, both by industrial recovery and in stores through increased business. To-morrow evening and on Saturday morning there will be parades of Boy Scouts through the city. To-morrow’s parade will be headed by the Stanmore Silver Band, and will strikingly illustrate the slogan, “ Buy New Zealand Goods. fne Technical College Bugle Band will lead Saturday’s parade. The decorated tram will also be seen in the streets during the next two days.
