Brown Cake With Caramel Icing .
T o-day’s Recipe
Butter 6oz. Sugar, 21b light brown. Eggs, 4. Baking powder, 1 teaspoon. Spice, 1 teaspoon. Ground rice, 2oz: Flour, ilb. Golden syrup, 3 tablespoons. Caramel Icing: 1 cup brown sugar. h cup thick cream or unsweetened condensed milk. Butter size of walnut. Essence of vanilla. Boil sugar, butter and cream, testing it as for toffee by dropping a little in a cup of cold water. Take off fire. Beat till thickens. Add vanilla. When cool, spread on' cake.
