Self-Reliant Workers.
Dear Sir, —We hear a lot from the Unemployment Board and its officers of the encouragement given relief workers to get extra work, and in the “ Star ” of April 6 there is an article in which Mr W. Bromley says a man can receive £lO in one week and the officers are instructed to take no notice of it. But my advice to relief workers is: Take no notice of this eyewash, because if they do get any work they will be treated the same as myself and many others by having to stand down the same number of days as they get outside. If you go to find out the reason the officers will mount the high horse and tell you that if you are not satisfied they have the power to and will stand you down altogether until you have cut out all the days you have worked before they found out. That is their encouragement, so beware.—l am, etc., ONCE A FOOL.
