HARDY PLANT NURSERY.

Formation at Botanical Gardens.

It has been decided to establish a new hardy plant nursery at the Botanic Gardens and the work of trenching the soil is to be put in hand immediately. The nursery will be situated in the old horse paddock between the United Tennis Club’s grounds and the river and trees, shrubs and hard)' plants are to be grown there. The curator, Mr J. A. M’Pherson, is a firm believer in growing as much stock as possible in the gardens. He said yesterday that this was the quiet time in the gardens, ordinary seasonal work being done.
