POPPY DAY APPEAL.
A meeting of ladies who are organising the city sale of peppies tvas held in the Jellieoe Hall yesterday morning. Mrs H. T. J. Thacker tvas in the chair and Mrs J, R. Evans again agreed to undertake the duties of secretary. Messrs G. YV. Lloyd and E. F. Willcox (secretary, Returned Soldiers’ Association) YvereYalso in attendance. Various stands were allocated to representatives of the organisations and individuals present and preliminary arrangements made for the sale of poppies, which will be held in the city streets on Friday, April 21. It was decided to invite the Mayoress (Mrs D. G. Sullivan) and Mrs J. S. Neville to take charge of arrangements for morning and afternoon tea for the helpers. The secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association outlined the preparations already in hand for the sale of poppies in the suburbs and country districts. It was decided to hold a further meeting of the ladies on Wednesday morning. April ID.
