On the Stock Exchange the following sales were made this morning:— Federal 4 per cent bonds—l93B £lO3 6s 3d. 1941 £lO3 15s, 1944 £lO4, 1947 £lO2 15s, 1950 £lO3, 1957 £lO4, 1961 £lO2 15s. Miscellaneous—Bank of New South Wales £3O, Australian Gas £6 18s, Colonial Sugar £55, Burns Philp 50s 6d. AUCKLAND BUSINESS. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, April 8. At a quiet call this morning, the demand for Government stocks and insurances was outstanding. A feature in the public issues was that the offer of £99 for 4 per cents, and £97 for 3i’s failed to produce sellers. In insurances buyers of New Zealands raised their limits to £2 8s 9d without attracting holders following an announcement that no interim dividend on ordinary shares will be paid. Guarantee Corporation scrip eased with sellers at 5s and no buyers. Breweries were in request at £1 8s od. Motorua Oils were easier, being available at 4s 3d. OTHER EXCHANGES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 8. Sales on ’Change—Farmers’ Fertiliser, 36s 4d; Bank of New Zealand, 44s lOd; City 5i per cent, 1957, £99. DUNEDIN, April 8. Sales Reported—Goldsbrough Mort, 22s 9d; Okarito, 9s sd. Reported after call: Okarito, 9s 6d. ORDER FOR BUTTER. An order for 10,000 boxes of butter for America has been received by an Auckland firm, the butter to be wrapped in clarafoil transparent paper. The idea of this wrapping is to ensure the butter opening up with its freshness and “ bloom ” unimpaired. MEAT MARKETS. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office as at the close of business this week:— Frozen Meat.—The market for wether mutton is dull, with little business doing. The market for ewes is easier. The demand and prices for lambs are steady. Quotations: —Wethers: Light, 33d to 4Jd; heavy, 3d to 33d. Ewes: 2£d to 3 id. Lambs: 2’s, 53d to 6d; B’s, 43d to sd; 4’s, 4id to 4|d; seconds, 5Jd to 6d, all per pound. PRE3HFORD DREDGE. Per Press Association. GORE. April 8.
