With the completion this week of the paving with three coats of bitumen of the section of the Main South Road from Rakaia to Dromore there is now a splendid road surface over the whole length of eighteen miles from the Rakaia River bridge to Ashburton, and the improvement is greatly appreciated by motorists. The only remaining gap between Christchurch and Ashburton which is not in perfect order is the section from Rolleston to Rakaia, and frequent representations have been made to have it included in the paving programme.
