HORSES REACH WESTPORT (Special to the " Star.”) WESTPORT, April 6. Most of the gallopers and trotters engaged at the meeting, with their owners and trainers, are already in Westport for the meeting on Saturday. A large motor float has been busy running backwards and forwards to the junction, bringing horses with a full load each trip. Little Wonder arrived on Sunday from Gisborne by boat. After the running of the Portland Hack Handicap at the Whangarei Racing Club's meeting yesterday, the Judicial Committee held an inquiry into the running, and decided that the owner, Mr Wenzyl Scholium, the trainer, W. Goscomb, and the rider. Price, of Princess Star were guilty of contravention of Part 1, Rule 259, of the Rules of Racing; and that they should be disqualified for six months. LATE MR 11. O, NOLAN. The death of Mr H. O. Nolan, chairman of the Auckland District Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference, was feelingly referred to by members of that body at their meeting on Tuesday aiternoon. On the motion of Mr M M M’Callum it was resolved: That this committee places on record its profound regret at the sad and untimely death of its chairman, and places on record its appreciation of his most invaluable services during his many years’ membership. Mr Nolan's sound common sense, scrupulous fairness in disputes and kindly courtesy endeared him to all who came under his jurisdiction.
