LATE MRS C. V. CHILDS.

The death of Mrs Beatrice May Childs, wife of Mr C. V. Childs, of Spreydon, occurred on Monday at Lewisham Hospital. Mrs Childs was the second daughter of Mr and Mrs George Walker, who were among the earliest residents of Somerfield. She was a granddaughter of the late Mrs John Woodard, who was one of Canterbury's pioneers. In June, 1913, she married Mr Val Childs, of Petone. She leaves her husband, a daughter, Edna, and two sons, Eric and Maurice. The funeral took place at the Sydenham Cemetery. The pallbearers were representatives of the Beckenham, Barrington and Elmwood Bowling clubs. Wreaths were sent by members of the family and Mr and Mrs C. D.
