The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of St James’s Ladies’ Guild, Riccarton:—President, Mrs Kingsford; secretary and treasurer’,, Mrs W. Coad; vice-presidents, Mesdames S. F. Wilson, H. E. Jarman, H. B. Whitta, Musgrave, Roberts, Lummis, R. G. Malcolmson, Leslie, Cox, de Lambert and Miss Tickle; in charge of refreshments, Mesdames H. B. Whitta, Aldridge and Carson. Prizes for the baby show at the Selwyn Free Kindergarten annual fair, held recently, were awarded as follows: Girls, under six months, Dorothy Kerr 1, Valmai Smith and Joan Hamilton, highly commended; boys, under six months, Kevin Hurley 1, Russell Knight 2, Jack Playford 3, and Brian O’Loughlin Nurse Bastin’s special prize; boys, under twelve months, Albert Cassidy 1, Ronald Britt 2; girls, under twelve months, Daphne Neave 1, Maisie Streetly 2, Joyce Chetwin Nurse Barr’s prize, and Maureen Rhind special; under eighteen months, Aileen Atkinson 1, and Edward Prebble, highly commended. Mesdames S. H. Wootton and E. Parlane were in charge of the baby j show, and the judges were Nurse Bastin and Nurse Barr.
