Secondary Schools’ Relay Races. The Christ’s College swimming pool was the scene yesterday of the annual relay races among the six Christchurch secondary schools. The open championship was won by Christ's College, whilst the under fifteen years event went to Boys’ High School. Results:— Senior Event. Christ’s College 1 Boys’ High School 2 Technical High School .... 3 St Andrew's College 4 St Bede’s College 5 West Christchurch D.H.S. . . 6 Time—74 2-ssec. The winning team was R. P. W. Barker. R. E. Alexander, H. B. Hay and T. A. Harpur (captain), who swam in that order. Junior fevent. Boys’ High School 1 Technical High School .... 2 Christ's College 3 West Christchurch D.H.S. . . 4 St Andrew’s College 5 St Bede’s College 6 Time—Ss 3-ssec. The winning team was R. E. P. Williams, H. E. Horsfall, R. G. Hatch well and M. R. Hamilton (captain) who swam in that order. Beckenham Club. A carnival was held at the Beckenham Baths on March 4. The weather was good, and there was a fair attendance of spectators. Results: — Schoolboys, 50yds—First heat: E. Morse 1, M. Shier 2. Second heat: R. Caphill 1, L. Goven 2. Final: R. Caphill 1. M. Jones 1, L. Wakelin 2. Schoolboys’ Dive—lt. Jack. Schoolgirls’ Dive : —P. Vercoe. Carnival To-night. To-night, at the Tepid Baths, the Canterbury Centre of the N.Z.A.S.A. will hold another of its popular carnivals. This carnival is being field to give swimming enthusiasts an opportunity of seeing in action the Canterbury team which did so well at the recent New Zealand championships. There are seven Canterbury championships on the programme, including the men’s 220 yds. The handicap events have, as usual, drawn large entries, there being, for instance, thirty-seven teams entered for the relay. The Canterbury water polo team which won the New Zealand
championship will play a match against the rest of Canterbury. The carnival is timed to start at 7.30 p.m.
