Departure of Laburnum for Akaroa. H.M.S. Laburnum, having concluded a fortnight’s stay at Lyttelton, left for Akaroa this morning. At Akaroa she will meet H.M.S. Veronica, and it is expected that a naval regatta will be held on Friday or Saturday. From Akaroa, the Laburnum will proceed to Wellington, where the crew will undergo musketry training. A call will later be made at Picton, before her return to the base at Auckland. Yachtmen’s Dance. The Banks Peninsula Cruising Club will hold a dance in the club hall, on Saturday evening, for the entertainment of its club members. Invitations have been issued, and a successful function is anticipated. Lyttelton Golf Club. The Lyttelton Golf Club will officially open its playing season, during the coming week-end. Two matches will be played during the day, a Canadian foursome during the morning, and a stroke match during the afternoon. A special launch will leave Lyttelton for the bay at 9.30 on Sunday morning. Card Evening. A card evening will be held at Godley House, Diamond Harbour, on Saturday, March 18, in aid of the Diamond Harbour Tennis Club. Swimming. The Lyttelton Men’s Amateur Swimming Club will hold its final races at Corsair Bay on Saturday afternoon. Interest will be centred on the 50yds championship. The Lyttelton Ladies’ Swimming Club intended holding their final swimming events of the season in the dock on Saturday, but the dock, not being available, the events will have to be held at Corsair Bay. The programme will include the 75yds junior chami pionship and 100yds senior champion- ! ________________________
