Mrs George M’Uraith, Fendalton, has returned to town from a visit to Otira. Mrs Buckley, Waiau, is visiting Mrs E. Satchell, Weston Road. Miss Elizabeth Acland, Brown’s Road, is visiting Mrs Derek Studholme, Coldstream. Miss Cicely O’Rorke has left Christchurch to do some climbing in the Mount Rolleston district. Miss E. Staples, of Clyde Road, Riccarton, left last evening on a visit to Whangarei. Miss Minnie Gadd has returned to Wellington after a visit to relatives and friends at North Beach, Christchurch. Mrs Charles Yeatman, who has been visiting Mrs D. Bowden, Kaiwarra, arrived in Christchurch this morning. Mrs Maxwell Turner, Featherston, is visiting Christchurch and is staying with her mother, Mrs J. A. S. Wait, St Elmo Courts. Mesdames R. R. Binney and H. Smith and Miss B. M. Pryde (Invercargill) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Dr and Mrs James Flight, Rugby Street, are expected to return to Christchurch on Friday from a motoring trip in South Canterbury. Miss Dorothy Powell, Ardlogie, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs H. L. Jennirigs, has returned to Waimate. Mr and Mrs F. T. M. Kissel, Wellington, who are visiting Christchurch, w-here Mr Kissel is attending che Engineers’ Conference, are staying at Warner’s Flo tel. Mrs J. F. .Studholme, Fendalton, left last night for Wellington, where she will be the guest of their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe, Government Flouse. Mrs Ramsbotham, wife of Commander Ramsbotham, who is at present the guest of Mrs Redmond Neill, “ Barossa,” Timaru, will arrive in Christchurch this week. Mr and Mrs J. C. Lancaster, Wellington, are the guests of Mr and Mrs George Lancaster, Harakeke Street, Riccarton. Mr Lancaster is attending the conference of Civil Engineers which opened here yesterday. Mrs Palmer Chapman, who has been the guest of Mrs George Helmore, “ Millbrook,” Fendalton, and Miss Peggy Palmer Chapman, who arrived in Christchurch from the Chatham Islands yesterday, will leave for their home in Timaru to-day. Sir Harold Boulton and Lady Boulton, of Copped Hall, Camberley, England, who recently arrived in Auckland from England, have completed a short tour of the North Island, and will arrive to-day in Wellington, where they will be the guests of Lord and Lady Bledisloe, at Government House. Sir Harold is a director of the firm of Burt, Boulton and Haywood, Ltd., but is better known as a lyric writer and compiler of folk-songs. Sir Harold is a connection of Mrs J. F. Studholme, of Fendalton. He and Lady Boulton will shortly visit Christchurch, and will be Mrs Studholme’s guests. Later they will visit Dunedin.
