GUN DOG CLUB FORMED.
That interest is still on the increase in connection with the training of working gun dogs was again shown on Monday evening, when Mr L. A. Shand presided over a large attendance at a meeting convened for the purpose of discussing the advisability of forming a gun dog club in Christchurch. After Mr A. A. Boon had moved and Mr G. D. M’llraith seconded a motion that a club should be formed, Mr W. C. Leversedge said that, with the great increase in the working of gun dogs, the time was ripe for a step forward. Good work had been done by the gun dog committee of the Canterbury Kennel Club, but it now appeared that it would be advisable, if the full bensflt of this work was to be secured, for the body controlling the trials to possess a separate identity. Mr A. B. Talbot suggested that the new club should affiliate with the Canterbury Kennel Club and, through that body, with the New Zealand Kennel Club, but the consensus of opinion w?s that the disadvantages of such a step would greatly outweigh its advantages. After some further discussion the motion to form the club was carried unanimously and the following were appointed as a committee to draw up rules and to report back to a general meeting as soon as possible: Messrs L. A. Shand (chairman and convener), A. Dawson, G. D. M’M’llraith, C. V. M’Beath, A. A. Boon, E. Jamieson and A. E. Seeker (acting-honorary secretary).
