Intermediate Competition Resumed. (Special to the ” Star.”) ASHBURTON, January 15. After a break of three weeks the MidCanterbury Lawn Tennis Sub-Associ-ation’s intermediate competition was continued on Saturday, when only one match was played. Fairton beat Ashburton by nine sets to seven on the Ashburton Club’s courts. Details are as follows, Ashburton names being given Men’s singles—J. D. Coward 9. E P Bryant 7; C. Denham 4, W. T. Watkins 9; E. B. Fooks 5, E. Dunphy 9; M. Pilbrow 5, H. W. Slade 9. Women's singles—Miss A. Amos 7. Miss T. Dunphy 2; Miss E. MElhlnnev 4, Miss G. Dunphy 7; Miss J. Lane 7, Mrs M’Call 3; Miss W.
