Carnival Committee Holds Gathering. PLEASANT SOCIAL ROUND. A pleasant evening was spent on Thursday, when members of the St John Ambulance Ladies’ Auxiliary and the City Council Relief Workers’ Sport and Carnival Committee met at the Dorothy White Studio. Games and dancing were enjoyed. Items were given by Mesdames Ellis and Jones and Mr O’Connor. Supper was served by the Ladies’ Auxiliary members. Mr Moore thanked the ladies for their assistance at the Christmas-tree fete, and Mrs Hugh Williams (president) suitably responded. Mr Chappell proposed a special vote of thanks to Mrs Jones and the ladies who were in charge of the refreshment and ice cream tents. The pianist was Miss Amy Peters, and Mr Moore and Mr Chappell were M.C.’s. Among those present were: Mesdames Edmonds, Jones, Mills, Quigley (2), Becconsale, Mason, Taylor, Hill, Hobb, Guilbert, Wilson, Woolford, Herdman, Williams, Cordy, Roberts, Hartley, Sharr, Ellis, Moore, Gribbin, Cooke, Kerridge, Hurrell and Misses Sharr, Hewston, Hood, Rudd and Kent. Messrs Kelly, Thompson, Edmonds, Chappell, Williams, Moore, Sharr, Hurrell, Woodward, Smith, Cooke and O’Connor, Hartley, Finnerty, Queree, Ellis, Scott, Kerridge, Thomas and Jontes. Bride-Elect Honoured. On Thursday evening a delightful dance and gift evening was arranged by Mrs J. Meikle and Miss Agnes Darby in honour of Miss Peggy Pearson, whose marriage to Mr Neil Orchard will take place next month. The party was held at the home of Miss Darby. Dancing was enjoyed in the lounge, which was beautifully decorated with huge bowls of hydrangeas, carnations and roses. Those present were: Mr and Mrs J. Meikle, Misses Peggy Pearson, Agnes Darby, Joan Meikle, Belle M’Millan, Marjory Pearson, Doreen O’Connell, Audrey Tutton, Bernadette Holley, May Tompkinson, Dorothy Cross, Myrtle Beer, M. Williams; Messrs J. Meikle, N. Orchard, M. Meikle, F. Clark, S. Barrett, J. Tutton, V. Mean, B. Matson, D. M’Fadden, N. Darby, J. Fraser, R. English, J. Friendly and J. Darby. Party at St Albans. An enjoyable party was given by Mr and Mrs H. Mulloy at their home in Gresford Street on Wednesday evening. The guests enjoyed games, community singing and dancing. Musical items were given by Miss Eileen Mulloy and Mr S. Mulloy. An exhibition dance was given by Mr Gerald Geddes. Among the guests were:—Mr and Mrs H. Mulloy, Mr and Mrs S.
