NO MORE WARSHIPS.

U.S. Will Stop Building to Treaty Standard. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copy rlgh t. WASHINGTON, January 10. Mr Carl Vinson, chairman of the House Naval Affairs Committee, to-day announced that all programmes involving building in the United States Navy up to London Treaty strength had been abandoned as far as the present session of Congress was concerned. The United States Navy now occupies third place among the world’s fleets, he said, and will probably drop to fourth unless further building is authorised. Mr Vinson said he believed that the President-elect, Mr F. D. Roosevelt, favoured strengthening the navy, but building would be spread over a- period of years on account of the shortage of funds.
