SOUTH ISLAND TRAVEL.

League for Exploitation Suggested. A request for the support of a proposed " South Island Tourist League ” is made in a letter received from the interim-secretary by the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) this morning. The proposal is addressed to local bodies, progress leagues, hotel proprietors, transport companies and all patriotic citizens, and urges the need for exploiting tourist travel in every part of the South Island. Newspaper advertising, folders, lectures, and co-operation with overseas travel agencies and steamship companies are suggested, and it is proposed that if sufficient support is forthcoming a conference of interested parties should be held early in the New Year. The project originates in Dunedin, where an executive committee, headed by the Mayor (Mr R. S. Black) has bjen formed.
