Ashley Bridge to Waipara

Dear Sir, —I think it is high time that someone drew the attention of the Kowai County Council to the shocking condition in which they maintain this portion of their road. I use this road frequently through to Blenheim and must say it is the worst kept portion on the stretch. Surely the councillors will wake up and do something. Thousands of pounds are being frittered away on clipping grass, etc., off countryroads and village streets. Why does not the council endeavour to secure some of this cheap money and labour, and lay down this stretch in bitumen, to the mutual benefit of the council’s pocket and users of the road?—l am, etc., DISGUSTED.
