BREAK-UP PARTY

Miss Waugh’s Pupils Give Dance Recital. The pupils of the Misses Waugh gave an enjoyable pianoforte and dance recital in the Winter Garden. A large and appreciative audience of parents and friends was entertained with a varied programme showing the results of careful, painstaking tuition. Pianoforte solos, duets, trios, Highland and Irish reels, clog, operatic, barefoot, character, step, tap, skipping dances, and some attractive ballets were included. At the close of the recital many beautiful bouquets and boxes of chocolates were presented. During the evening Mr R. Joe made a presentation of a cup and medal given by Mr T. Stace, of Auckland, to the dancer gaining the most first prizes in national dancing throughout the year 1932. The winner of the Cup was Miss Betty Carnochan, with twenty first prizes, and the runner-up was Miss Jean M’Lachlan, with seventeen first prizes. Mr Joe congratulated these young ladies on their meritorious efforts. On behalf of those present, Mr Joe thanked the Misses Waugh for the opportunity of seeing the progress of the pupils during the year. Mr James Mercer responded on behalf of the Misses Waugh. Supper was served, after which an enjoyable dance was held, to music supplied by Dorothy Moore’s orchestra. The accompanists were Misses Louie and Muriel Waugh and Piper J. M’Lachlan. Among the pupils present were: Alison Charters, Margaret Hilder, Eileen Bell, Flora Fitt, Inez Woodcock.
