Identification Difficult.

To the Editor. Dear Sir, —I am and always will be, -within reason, a buyer of home products. To-day I commissioned my wife to get me a pair of trousers and shoes, and she has returned home with them. The saleswoman in both shops guaranteed they were New Zealand made. I am just as sure they are not, but I’ll wear them. Now this is what I want to point out: What is wrong with our manufacturers? Where is their brand, so that a salesman cannot lie? We have had woollen companies making flalnels for us out of bulls’ wool, and wonder why they don’t sell, and I have worn flannels made out of the only wool fit for any human to wear. Our companies know the wool. The difference in cost is trifling to them, yet they in their comfort of something imported think the toilers like it rough. The sooner our woollen and other companies brand their goods, and by this means show that they back them, my wife will not be misled.—Yours for N.Z. THE NATIVE.
