Is it an Obsession?
To the Editor. Dear Sir, —From the business point of view you will be pleased to lea’rn from G.R.B. that the “Star” is read morning, noon and night. If I was one affected much by vanity I would be pleased to know that I was partly the cause of it. Vanity is not one of my weaknesses. G.R.B. and his obsessions are quite interesting. He appears to have two—one that only Trades Ilall people should express opinions on public matters; the other that the Trades Hall people’s policy should never be criticised. There is another—they would like to get the worker obsessed with the idea that the Labour Party is the only one that looks after their interests, and when they- get the public hypnotised by the use of the word Labour they exploit them —see how they have given City Council employees a 27 per cent higher standajp* of living now than other workers in the same lines could get when we were prosperous. And they are doing it by lowering the standard of living for other workers. It is a great obsession they have got on to the workers.—l am, etc., X
