LINWOOD W.C.T.U.

The monthly meeting of the Linwood branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held in the Linwood Baptist Church. The president, Mrs J. Richards, was in the chair, and Mrs F. Greenwood led the devotions. A scientific temperance fact was given by Mrs Brewins. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of Mrs Grose and Mrs Vinnicombe, two senior members of the union who died recently. The president also expressed the regret felt by members at the approaching departure of Mrs Brewins, a capable and energetic officer, who is leaving to reside at Gore Bay. Miss Snell was appointed superintendent of the Birthday League and Mrs F. Grigg superintendent of Scientific Temperance, two positions previously filled by Mrs Brewins. An interesting paper on “ W hat the White Ribbon Stands For ” was read by Mrs J. Black.
