ENJOYABLE DANCES.

Many Pleasant Gatherings Held. TRAINING COLLEGE STUDENTS. To conclude the annual tournament between the first-year and second-year students, the annual tournament dance was held in the Training College Hall last evening. This occasion is always considered one of the brightest social festivities of the Training College session, and last evening’s gathering was no exception to the rule. A pleasant and artistic effect was given by the profuse decorations in the college colours, red, blue and gold. Music was supplied by the Training College students’ orchestra, consisting of Miss Turner, Miss Moir and Messrs Sweeney, Koller, Bennett and Simpson. Arrangements had been efficiently carried out by the College Social Committee, consisting of Messrs B. W. J. Brown (secretary), C’. R. M’Rae, W. K. Marshall, H. A. Barnett and Misses P. Leatham, H. Rowland, J. Prime and M. Hughes, assisted by ..first-year representatives; and the success of the evening was largely attributable to their efforts. During the evening a sailor’s ballet was presented by a party of women students. The guests of honour were Mr and Mrs J. H. Poison, Mr and Mrs C. Purchase, Mr and Mrs W. J. Cartwright, Miss A. F. Ironside, Mr G. Jobberns, and Mr J. S. Cornes. Among those present were:—Misses Precla Moir, Joyce Prime, Joan Colville Cook, Margaret Burning, Joan Marker, Margaret Hughes, Muriel Meek. Hilda Jackson, Esther Goodland, Chrissie Dickson, Mamie Mace, Irene Sexton, Dorothy Farrow, Jean Staunton, Phj'llis Letham, Itosa White, Nan Come, Evelyn Thompson, Joan Taylor, Hlrgi Rowland, Myrtle Christie, Curreno Turner. Oliven Scott, Helen M’Donald, Dorothy Plosking, Dorothy Arthur, Mary Craddock. Amy Dash, Peggy Foote, Mary Knibb, Winnie Weenink and Edith Jary. SEAMEN’S SOCIAL CLUB. A dance was held last night by the Seamen’s Social Club in order to raise money for the Deveron Fund. The hall at R.N.V.R. headquarters was decorated with bright streamers, and large flags were draped around the walls. During the evening Miss Taylor and Miss Patrick gave a specialty dance. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Dora Urry and Mr A. L. King and the lucky spot waltz by Miss Stewart and Mr W. Armstrong. The supper arrangements were admirably carried out by Mesdames M. Martin and A. E. Urry. Denza’s dance band supplied the music for dancing. Those present included:—Mesdames J. R. Paterson, A. E. Urry, J. Birss and M. RAWHITI GOLF CLUB. The second annual dance of the Rawhiti Golf Club was held in the Masonic Hall, New Brighton, last evening and proved most successful. The committee—Mesdames 7. E. Gudgeon, C. M. Clarkson, B. A. Miles, H. Throp and Misses 11. Hopkins, A. Riedle and P. Dunkley—are to be congratulated on their efforts. An exhibition dance was given by Mr and Mrs Leo Bowden. Mr G. W. Bishop was M.C., and Seymour’s Orchestra played the music for the dancing. Among those present were: Mesdames E. Clemens, B. T. Coburn, F. Lloyd, D. M. Levett, Loo Bowden, Ron Davis, Tan Gunn, C. M.
