TROTTING NOTES.

DOMINATIONS for the relief meeting at Addington will close at 8 p.m. on Monday. * * * * Nominations for the Methven meeting will close at eight o’clock to-morrow night, with the secretary of the Ashburton Trotting Club. * iff * * The Otago Hunt Club is seeking the same privilege as that bestowed on racing clubs, and if this is granted it will include two light harness events on its annual programme. The proposed programme includes the Brockville Trotting Handicap, of 75 sovs, 3.6 or better, and Wingatui Trotting Handicap, of 75 sovs, 3.45 or better. * * * * Nomination and acceptance fees amounting to £1529 were received during the season by the Canterbury Park Trotting Club. OVER LONGER JOURNEYS. George Rev, who raced brilliantly at the last Canterbury Park meeting may be raced over longer courses in the new season. He is bred on solid lines, being by Rey de Oro from a Logan Pointer mare, a breeding combination that has produced several winners this season and seems likely to be even more successful in the near future. BAD TEMPERED. Baron Bingen is being hacked about and will be put into work again shortly. The brother to Peter Bingen and Great Bingen is a speedy pacer, but during the season just concluding he showed a lot of temper in his races and frequently refused to give of his : best. * * * * During the season the Canterbury Park Trotting Club gave £6170 in stakes for its four days’ racing. HAVING EASY TIME. Impromptu, who has raced very consistently in his recent outings, is having a somewhat easy time just now. but will be sent along shortly in view of being raced at the August meeting. Impromptu improved considerably during the season and on the second day of the Canterbury Park Club’s meeting went 4min 20 4-ssec in the Paparua Handicap when he was second to Cranleigh. FAILED IN RACES. Since coming to Addington to be trained, Great Logan has not raced well. J. S. Shaw had the Logan Pointer pacer looking in splendid order and in his training work Great Logan showed a lot of speed, but in his races failed to put much dash into his work. He is best over sprint courses, but when on the top of his form a two mile journey is not beyond his powers. BETTER IN SPRINTS. Golden Pedro is being kept in steady work and the Australian pacer looks in good order to begin the new season’s racing. Although Golden Pedro has put up a few creditable performances over two miles, he is at his best over sprint courses. He is a lightly fleshed pacer and after one hard race seems to temporarily lose his dash. MAY TRY TO COME BACK. It is stated that Peterwah is likely to be put in work again. Peterwah was one of the best trotters ever raced in the Dominion and had he been able to always control his speed in a race would have won more money. He won the New Zealand Trotting Stakes in 1924, showing exceptional speed, and has raced all over the Dominion. He has had limited opportunities at the stud, but has sired a few smart performers, both trotters and pacers. Some little time ago he was sent from Gisborne, where he is owned and trained, to Addington, but he did not seem to be too sound and failed to stand up to the fast work necessary to bring him back to his best form. He has done 4min 23 4.ssec for two miles. He returned to Gisborne some months ago. INVERCARGILL CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Invercargill Trotting Club was held last week, when Mr J. B. Thomson presided over ' a good attendance of members. Mr W. Grieve was appointed the club’s delegate to the trotting conference. With regard to the club's original application for March 10 and 11, 1933, as the dates for the annual trotting meeting, as this would mean clashing with the Timaru Trotting Club s one day meeting on March 11, it was decided to revert to the club’s usual date and to make a further application for March 3 and 4, 1933. A letter was received from the South Otago Trotting Club requesting the support of the club in its claim for a totalisator permit. It was decided to support the application The annual general meeting of members was fixed for Friday, July 22. Various remits to the conference were discussed and the wishes of the committee made known to the delegates. TROTTING FIXTURES. Julv 2—Oamaru J.C. July y—Methven T.C. (Ashburton). j uly 16—Charity, Addington. July 23—Combined, Riccarton July 30—South Canterbury H.C. August 6, 10, 12—N.Z.M.T.C. NOTES FROM HUTT PARK. (Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, June 29. Steady routine work was apportioned to the horses in training at Hutt Park during the past week. On Thursday morning a fast workout was registered over a mile and a half on the cinder track by L. O. Thomas’s trio, Glenrossie, Chenaway and Ambleside. They all did their ask well, with Ambleside having a slight advantage at the finish. Chenaway and Ambleside are in solid condition, and Glenrossie is fast rounding into form after his spell. The caretakers at the Park had the tracks in perfect order on Friday afternoon. and some interesting work was anticipated on Saturday' morning, but the downpour of rain prevented training of any kind.

The win of the one-time Lower Hutt trainer, S. M. August, with Windchat at Auckland, was well received locally. Since going into August’s hands the daughter of The Triumph and Papatina has made steady improvement, and in her four starts prior to the Auckland meeting she registered one win and three second placings. The winning performance was recorded in the Bardowie Handicap at Cambridge on May
