WEDDINGS
Marriage Celebrated at Riccarton. DAVIES—WITHERS. The wedding was celebrated recently at St Ninian’s Church, Riccarton, by the Rev John A. Allan, of Sadie Margaret, third daughter of Mrs M. Withers, Fendalton, and the late Dr T. J. Withers, Southbridge, and Claude Humphrey Davies, of Christchurch. Mr M. Rickard officiated at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Dr R. L. Withers, Kaikoura, wore a beautiful frock of winecoloured satin marocain. flared skirt was ankle-length with inset panels of satin, and over the sleeveless bodice was worn a coatee of embossed georgette of the same shade. Her hat was a wine colour velour with a wing of toning shades draping from the crown to the brim. She carried a lovely bouquet of red roses and maiden hair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Joan Vale, wore a frock of red and white patterned crepe de chine, and a felt hat toning with her dress. She carried a bouquet of red carnations. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Beach Bosomworth (Cheviot) as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Winter Garden, where Mrs Withers received her guests wearing an ensemble of black silk marocain and a hat of black panne velvet with a small black and white quill. When Mr and Mrs Davies left for the south, thg bride was wearing a frock of russet brown marocain, a smart nigger brown coat and a small brown velour hat. BARKER—INNES-JONES. A wedding of considerable interest in the King Country took place on Thursday at Te Kuiti, when Roland Studholme, fourth son of Mr and Mrs J. M. .Barker, of Waihi, Woodbury, South Canterbury, was married to Rosalind Mostyn, only daughter of Mr and Mrs M. H. Innes-Jones, of Te Kuiti. The ceremony was performed by the Rev C. E. Newbould, at St Luke’s Church, Te Kuiti, which had been decorated by friends of the bride, assisted by the Girl Guides. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a georgette gown of soft blue and carried a sheaf bouquet of cyclamen. A touch of the same colour was in her small blue hat. The bridesmaid, Miss Nora Hitcliings, of Qtorohanga, was in a pale pink georgette gown and wore a tricorne hat to match. She carried a bouquet of pink flowers. The bridegroom’s brother, Mr J. S. Barker, of South Canterbury, was best man. The bride’s mother wore petunia crepe de chine with hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of deep red roses. The mother of the bridegroom, Mrs J. M. Barker, was in brown lace with soft red hat, and carried an autumn-tinted bouquet. A guard of honour from the church door to the car was formed by the Girl Guides, under Captain Graham, the bride having been for six years a lieutenant in the Te Kuiti Company. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs H. T. Morton.
