Diamond Harbour Burgesses Hold Meeting.
The first annual meeting of the Diamond Harbour Burgesses’ Association was held at Godley House on Saturday night, Mr T. Bowring presiding. The annual report referred to the formation of the association on March 14 last. As a result of representations made concerning telephone communication, a new circuit was being installed and shottld soon be in operation. The matter of a water supply had been discussed, but was considered inexpedient. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr T. Bowring; secretary and treasurer, Mr F. Cartwright; committee, Messrs A. Sinclair, Howarth, W. Paine, A. Nicholls and J. Gower and Mesdames Paine, Manson, Gilmour and Cuftis. Tennis. A women’s tennis tournament played on the Te Whaka tennis courts on Saturday, was won by Miss Mary Neville. Dances. The committee of the Te Whaka Tennis Club is making arrangements to hold a benefit dance in aid of the Mayor's Relief Fund. The dance will be held on April 9. A dance will be held this evening in the Excelsior Ilall under the auspices of the Rangitiki Social Club. Personal. Mr J. F. G. Rassmussen, who held the position of chief clerk for the Railway Department at Lyttelton from 1925 to 1930, and acting stationmaster from the latter date, will leave Lyttelton on March 22 for Westport on promotion. Mr Rasmussen has been appointed stationmaster at Westport. Mr A. K. Dyne, acting goods agent at Auckland, will succeed Mr Rasmussen.
