ONE LAST APPEAL.

Mr Lyons Urges Payment of Interest Due. WILL N S W. STILL DEFAULT? United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received March 15, 11.30 a.m.) CANBERRA, March 15. A last appeal to Mr Lang to remit the interest in which he has defaulted, standing at £830,000, is made in a letter posted to him by Mr Lyons. Though Parliament meets to-day, the proposed resolutions under Section VI. of the Financial Agreement Enforcement Act, declaring the urgency of payment, will not be introduced until Wednesday, presumably to allow time for Mr Lang to take advantage of this final opportunity for a voluntary settlement. Mr Lyons has received a telegram from Mr Lang beseeching the Commonwealth Government to withhold any action until the High Court has decided on the legality of the Act. Mr Lyons refused to make any comment. DISORDER FEARED IN N.S.W. SYDNEY, March 14 The Commonwealth Government is taking adequate precautions to deal with any disorder in New South Wales between the Lang forces and the New Guard, following the proclamation of the Financial Agreement Enforcement Bill, says the Canberra correspondent of “ The World.” Secret investigations have just finished and deep concern is felt by the Federal Government on account of the possibility of a clash occurring between the rival organisations in Sydney. The Commonwealth Government proposes to swear-in special peace officers at a moment’s notice should trouble arise. RETURNING TO AUSTRALIA (Received March 15, 11.30 am.) LONDON, March 14. Sir Granville Ryrie, who has been Australian High Commissioner in London, is sailing the first week in August via Canada. If he re-enters politics in Australia he would prefer to sit in the Senate.
