MANAWATU TROTS.

Successful Meeting is Anticipated. LIKELY CANDIDATES. (Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, March 15. The Manawatu Trotting Club’s annual meeting at Ashhurst to-morrow has drawn a most satisfactory card, and it requires only a continuation of the present fine weather for the club to enjoy a most successful day. The classes are up to a couple of seconds slower than at Carterton on Saturday and there is a lot of new blood engaged, but the South Wairarapa form should prove a fairly reliable guide in the majority of events. The first race is due to start at noon. Horses who are likely to make creditable showings in the events include : Ladies’ Bracelet Handicap—Goldzone and Historian. Gorge Handicap (for trotters)—Amy Etawah and Hardy Grattan. Dash Handicap—Free Logan and Daddy Longlegs. Manawatu Plate—Silver de Oro and Sandown. Komo Handicap— Crocker and David M’Elwyn.
