WEDDING POSTPONED.
Prince of Wales was to have Attended. ELABORATE PLANS MADE. (Special to the “Star.”) LONDON, January 23. Owing to the death of the Dowager Marchioness of Bute, the wedding of Lady Eileen Forbes, daughter of the Earl and Countess of Granard, and Lord Dumfries, heir of the Marquis and Marchioness of Bute, will not take place in London. This wedding, one of the most important of the year, will unite an Irish and a Scottish family. It was to have been celebrated at Westminster Cathedral. Lady Eileen Forbes is now in Ireland at the family seat, Castle Forbes, Newtown Forbes, County Longford. It is expected that the wedding will be postponed for a month, and will then be celebrated quietly in the Roman Catholic church at Newton Forbes. Friend of the Prince. Before the death of the bridegroom’s grandmother, arrangements had been made for a brilliant wedding in London. It was expected that the King would be represented, and that the Prince of Wales would be present, as he is a close friend of Lord Dumfries. Lady Eileen’s father is Master of the Horse, and his daughter would have driven to the Cathedral in a Royal carriage.
