MUSIC TEACHERS.

Annual Meeting of Local Association. The annual meeting of the Canterbury division of the Music Teachers’ Association of New Zealand was 'held on Saturday evening. Mr Sidney Williamson presided over an attendance of fourteen members. The financial report. which was adopted, showed a credit balance on the year’s working of £6 14s 9d. The chairman, in his annual report, stated that during the year eleven resignations had been received and four new members elected. One life member, Mr L. C. Zimmerman, had been elected. The report was adopted. A new policy in connection with the monthly journal, “ Music in New Zealand.” was discussed. It was suggested that the control of the paper should pass into the hands of the association. Mr Williamson said that the publication of the paper was not a success. In all probability the next issue would be the last, and it was up to the association to 'keep it going. Financial Side. The financial side of the publication was set out in a report, which was placed before members. Mr Empson moved that the association take control of the publication, on the terms of control specified. This was seconded by Mr Williamson. Mr Dixon moved, as an amendment, that the time was not opportune for taking over the financial responsibilities of the Journal. The motion was carried. and the amendment lapsed for want of a seconder. Election of Officers. The following officers were elected; — President, Mr Cliffe Stanford; vicepresident, Madame Gower Burns; council members. Misses Betty Hannam and H. A. Sirrell. Messrs Hubert Jones and Ernest Empson; secretary and treasurer, Mr Sidney Williamson.
