SKATING COMMENCES.

The skating season was opened at the Olympia Skating Rink, Dundas Street, on Saturday night. About thirty couples took part in novelties introduced during the evening. The cold night suited the skaters. During the session, Mr J. Page introduced the new manager, Mr W. D. Preston, to the patrons. Mr Preston is known as a champion skater in Australia, and his exhibition on Saturday showed that he had not forgotten his skill. Competitions were won by Mr and Mrs A. H. Ragg, and Miss P. Robinson and Mr H. Kane.
