REFRESHER COURSE ENDS.

Period of Training has been Satisfactory.

The refresher course of the No. 2 (Bomber) Squadron of the .New Zealand Air Force, held at Wignam Aerodrome during the past two weeks, finished to-day. Low clouds this morning made the weather unsuitable for flying training, and as a result* some of the pilots were deprived erf an opportunity of fljnng Gloster Gnebes. Squadron-Leader J. L. Findlay, O.C. Wigram Aerodrome, said to-day that the course had been most satisfactory. All the pilots had done a good deal of flying, and most had had several hours on Bristol Fighters. The usual classes in rigging, engines, gunnery, navigation and wireless had been held, while the majority of the pilots had paid two visits to Lake Ellesmere and ha<i bombing and machine-gun practice. The course for No. 4 (Army Co-opera-tion) Squadron will begin on Monday and continue until next Wednesday week. The squadron will concentrate on signalling to and from the ground with wireless and lamps, on picking up messages, and on map work. On the Friday after the conclusion of the course, Permanent Air Force officers will fly several ’planes to Auckland, calling in at Wanganui, where the official North Island pageant is being held. In Auckland the refresher course of No. 1 (Army Co-operation) Squadron will be held.
