GIRL GUIDE MOVEMENT
Encouragement by Their Excellencies. The practical interest shown in the young people of New Zealand by their Excellencies is very keen, and the Lady Bledisloe Cup, which is given to the Girl Guides to encourage them in thrift and house-craft, will draw a large entry. The cup is of beautiful Celtic design, and was won this year by Marlborough province. Each province will be required to send to Dominion headquarters for competition five articles selected from the following list: —An article of needlework (handmade), a knitted garment, a piece of crochet work, hand-made lace, applique work, fcAibroidery, bead work, rug (made of rag or wool), leath&rwork, beaten copper or brass, carving, lettering (motto framed in passe-partout), modelling (article modelled in clay, plasticene or wax), article made of raffia or cane, original painting, either in oils or water-colours, design suitable for Guide poster; article decorated with sealing-wax, stencilled article, hand-made calendar, home-made toy. This should bring the competition within the reach of any little enthusiastic girl member or group of members.
