ST NINIAN’S CHURCH.
The Christmas spirit pervaded flic services yesterday at St Ninian’s, Riccarton. The Rev John Allen, M.A., was the preacher for the day, and he delivered appropriate sermons. The floral fuse than usual, and special music was rendered. At the morning service Mr J. Francis .Tones sang “ Nazareth ” (Gounod), and Miss Elsie Staples gave “O Babe Divine” (Bernard Hamblen). At the conclusion of the evening service a. special programme of music was given bv the choir, with Mr J. Sutherland as soloist and Mr M. Rickard at the organ. The numbers were:—Organ solo, “ Fastoral Svmphonv ” from “ The Messiah ” (Handel), Air M. Rickard; carol. “The First Nowell,” the choir; carol, “ Sleep, Holy Babe,” the choir; vocal solo, “ Comfort Ye ” from “ The Messiah ” (Handel), Mr J. Sutherland; carol, “When Christ was Born of Mary Free,’’ the choir; carol, “ See, in Yonder Manger Low,” Church Praise 553, the choir; organ solo, “Scotch Carol” (Guilmant), Mr M. Rickard; carol, “Holy Night, Peaceful Night,” the choir: carol, “As with Gladness, Men of Old ” (words in Church Praise 36), the choir.
