WIRTH BROTHERS’ CIRCUS.

Christchurch Season Opens To-morrow. To-morrow night, on a site opposite the RaHwav Station, Wirth Bros.* Circus will open for a season of eight nights, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday. A feature will he their latest importation, “ Kazbegs’ Troupe of Russian Cossacks,” daredevil riders from the Caucasus. These intrepid riders perform feats of horsemanship that dazzle decription. From the moment they appear in the ring till their concluding feat, “ The Cossacks ” have the onlooker thrilled at the during of the numbers enacted by them. From the stepibes of Russia “ Kazbeg’ Troupe of Cossacks ” competed against the very best of America’s cowboys at the New York Rodeo of 1929, and in every event the “Cossacks” defeated the hitherto unconquerable Yankees. Where the “Cosacks ” differ from other equestrian acts is that they perform their entire act whilst their steeds gallop at a breakneck speed around the ring. Pyramids, cavalry charges, military parade are all performed with an ease that astounds. The climax of the act is reached when Fedia, one of the Cossacks, whilst his mount is careering around at a terrific pace, climbs from his saddle completely around the horse, between the beast’s four legs and back to the saddle. The complete “ stunt ” bristles with thrills and sensations. “ The Boys who Defy Gravitation ” is the apt name given by the leading critics after viewing the appearance of the “Four Uessems,” the famous international balancers and equilibrists, who are to appear with Wirth s’ Circus. The box plan is at Begg’s, Manchester Street.
