MARRIAGE EXPENSES.
Cost £2 2s 6d, states Witness in Court Proceedings. “It costs money to get married, doesn’t it? ” asked Senior-Sergeant Fox of a defendant in the Maintenance Court this morning. “ Oh, I don’t know,” was the reply. The senior-sergeant: “ Well you ought to know. You did it.” Defendant admitted that it had cost him Sfl 2s 6d to get married. He was earning 31s a week on relief work.
