ELECTRICAL STORM.
Damage Caused on Farms near j Palmerston North. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON N., December 21. An electrical storm was experienced in the country districts adjacent to Palmerston North yesterday morning* There was a phenomenal downpour between Taikorea and Rangiotu, and at Kopane, five cows, the property of Mr T. Leen, were killed, presumably from concussion through lightning. Investigation failed to disclose any signs of a direct strike. * ... At Kairanga, a large pinus insignis was struck and portions were thrown fifty yards away. Some landed in the garden of a private residence and destroyed valuable shrubs.
