PIANOFORTE RECITALS.

Results of the Year’s Training. MISS K. LUND’S PUPILS. The . pupils of - Miss Katherine Lund give an enjoyable piano recital in the Bristol Hall on Saturday evening. Miss Lund is to be complimented on her choice of pieces. These were much appreciated by the audience. Many of the pupils showed promise and played difficult pieces with fine technique and expression not easily acquired without years of training. Miss Lund wore a pretty sunset pink ninon frock patterned in lemon shades with a full skirt, which fell in points to the ankles. A narrow velvet belt was clasped with a brililant buckle. She was presented with a bouquet of r-ed- carnations and maidenhair fern by Jean Anderson. Mrs H. M. Lund wore a black panne velvet frock patterned in lilac shades and with black georgette sleeves and narrow georgette belt. Miss Nancy Watson, A.T.C.L., was hostess at an enjoyable afternoon on Saturcja3 r , at the residence of Mrs Bettle, Ilafn Road,'Riccarton; for her ’pupils and their' mothers. Miss Ethel Jackson, L.A.8., assisted Miss Watson in the duties of hostess. Prizes for the best scale playing during the year were won by Gwen'Grainger (grade A), .Merle Rowell .(grade B) and Florence Wright (grade C). Mrs Ivy King’s Pupils. An invitation demonstration recital of pianoforte playing was held on Saturday afternoon in Begg’s concert room by pupils of Mrs Ivy King. The room was beautifully decorated by Miss Valerie Andrews. Misses Cushla Mitchell, Phyllis Cobden and Dorothy Hobbs assisted Mrs King to receive her guests. The large audience present accorded the performers an attentive hearing, and it was the unanimous opinion of those present that work of a high standard had been presented. The preliminary division was represented by Peggy Gale, Ashley Christmas, Jean Bremner, • Cyrus Christmas and Lucy Andrews.
