DANCE RECITAL.

Excellent Performance by Students. MISS V. LARGE’S PUPILS. An entertaining variety, of items including songs, solo dances, duos and ballets was given by the pupils of Miss Violet Large at the Radiant Hall on Saturday evening. There was a large gathering of-parents and friends to witness the performance. The effective staging and colourftil froeking combined to make the evening a delightful-one for the audJerjce. The greater part of the programme was taken up by the tiny tots, who performed with ease their dainty nurpbers and showed no ■ trace of self-consciousness. .. The . , froeking, . especially of • ■ the-

“babies” was very charming and lent itself in pleasing harmony with the colourful garden scene on the stage or against the dull gold of the curtain. The most- outstanding items' of the evening besides the solos and ballets, were the songs by Mr David M’Gill, assisted by ballets, and the duos given by Misses June and Nola Lawrence.. Mr M’Gill sang in his usual easy manner and his numbers went with a swing. June and Nola Lawrence, as well as dancing, intricate tapping steps, delighted the audience with their harmonious singing. The best of their numbers were, “The Happiness Boys” and “Sweet Jennie Lee.”

The most pleasing of the ballets were the “Toy' Ballet” and ‘.‘A Scene from Fairyland” by the tiny .tots, and .the “Gypsy Love Song.” The ballets were' colourful and well arranged and with the soloists combined to make the numbers full of interest. Intricate steps
