HITLER ON DEFENSIVE.

Dr Bruning Gets Accession of Strength. BERLIN, December 17. The Reichstag Committee of sixtyfive members defeated the Hitler Party, which was aided by the Communists, who had tried to force the immediate reassembly of the Reichstag. This represents a substantial increase of Dr Bruning’s majority in the Reichstag. His recent strong speech, which was broadcast, put Herr Hitler on the defensive, and enabled Dr Bruning to insist on his own conditions before he would accept Herr Hitler’s co-opera-tion with the Government.
